Lichen Moth
Scientific Name: Paectes abrostoloides (possibly)
Order & Family: Lepidoptera, Euteliidae
Size: Typically a wingspan of 20-30 mm (0.8-1.2 inches).

Natural Habitat
Woodlands, forests, and areas with lichen-covered trees or surfaces. They are often found camouflaged on bark or other textured surfaces.
Diet & Feeding
As adults, many moths in this family do not feed or feed on nectar. Their larvae (caterpillars) typically feed on the leaves of various trees and shrubs, including oak, willow, and birch.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal, attracted to light. Their mottled coloration provides excellent camouflage against tree bark or lichen, helping them avoid predators. When disturbed, they may remain perfectly still to maintain their camouflage.
Risks & Benefits
Generally considered beneficial or neutral. Their larvae can be part of the food chain for birds and other insectivores. They are not known to be pests of agricultural crops or to pose any direct risk to humans.
