Diet & Feeding

Behavior Patterns

Adults emerge in spring to feed on pollen before laying eggs on developing pea pods. Larvae tunnel into the seeds where they pupate. They have a single generation per year and often overwinter in stored seeds or sheltered outdoor locations.

Risks & Benefits

Major agricultural pest that reduces seed quality and germination rates. They pose no direct risk to humans, but can cause significant economic losses in the pulse industry.
