Natural Habitat

Organic matter, microscopic plants and animals, fungi, and bacteria found in biofilm/slime.
Behavior Patterns
They live in the anaerobic layer of drain slime; they breathe using a small siphon pushed through the water surface. They undergo complete metamorphosis.
Risks & Benefits
They do not bite or sting but can be a nuisance in large numbers and may transport bacteria from drains. They benefit the ecosystem by breaking down organic waste.
