Nits are eggs laid by female lice and are firmly cemented to hair strands. They hatch in about 7-10 days into nymphs.
Risks & Benefits
Causes head lice infestation (pediculosis), which leads to intense itching and secondary skin infections from scratching; no known ecosystem benefits.
