Size: 3mm to 12mm (0.1 to 0.5 inches), often compared to the size of a grain of rice.

Natural Habitat
Found in the intestinal tract of mammalian hosts (dogs, cats, humans) and expelled onto surfaces where the host rests.
Diet & Feeding
Absorbs nutrients directly from the host's digestive tract through its skin.
Behavior Patterns
As individual segments of a larger tapeworm, proglottids are mobile when fresh and crawl out of the host's anus; they eventually dry out, resembling sesame seeds, and release eggs.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include parasitic infection in pets and occasionally humans (especially children); benefits are none. It indicates a need for deworming treatment.
