Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding

Mold, fungi, starch, glue, book bindings, cereals, and other organic materials.

Behavior Patterns

Booklice are mostly nocturnal and are attracted to light, but they prefer dark, undisturbed areas. They are usually found in large groups and reproduce rapidly in favorable conditions. They do not bite humans.

Risks & Benefits

They are considered a nuisance pest in homes and can damage books, papers, and food products. They do not transmit diseases to humans or pets. They have some role in breaking down organic matter in natural environments.
