Behavior Patterns
The female mite burrows into the upper layer of the skin to lay eggs. It is primarily nocturnal, which is when the intense itching typically occurs. Mites are transmitted via direct, prolonged skin-to-skin contact.
Risks & Benefits
Causes Scabies, characterized by intense itching and a pimple-like rash. Untreated cases can lead to secondary bacterial infections from scratching. It offers no benefits to the host or ecosystem and is considered a parasite.
