Natural Habitat

Behavior Patterns
Active during cool periods in spring and fall; they often crawl onto homes and enter through cracks; they do not fly or jump and are parthenogenetic (reproducing without mating).

Harmless to humans and pets as they do not bite or transmit disease; they are considered nuisance pests because they leave a permanent red stain if crushed on fabrics.
