Diet & Feeding

Keratin-rich materials (wool, silk, fur, feathers), dried animal products, stored dry goods like cereals, pasta, and pet food.

Behavior Patterns

Larvae are the damaging stage, feeding on natural fibers and dried organic matter. They are slow-moving and often found in dark, undisturbed areas. Adults are winged and often found outdoors, feeding on pollen and nectar, but can fly indoors to lay eggs.

Risks & Benefits

Potential risks include damage to clothing, carpets, upholstery, and stored food products. They can cause skin irritation in some sensitive individuals due to their hairs. No known benefits in an indoor setting.
