Size: 1 to 7 millimeters (about the size of an apple seed when fully grown).

Natural Habitat
Indoor environments, particularly in and around sleeping areas such as mattresses, box springs, headboards, and cracks or crevices in walls.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophagous (blood-eaters), primarily feeding on human blood, usually at night.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive. They hide during the day and are attracted to the CO2 and body heat of sleeping hosts. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy allergic reactions to bites, skin rashes, and psychological distress/insomnia; however, they are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no ecological benefits to humans.
