Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Larvae feed on natural fibers like wool, silk, feathers, and fur, as well as dried food products. Adults primarily feed on pollen and nectar.
Behavior Patterns
Adults are active during the day and attracted to light. They undergo complete metamorphosis; the larval stage is the primary destructive phase before they pupate and emerge as beetles.
Risks & Benefits
No medical risk to humans, but larvae are significant pests that can damage household textiles and dried goods. Some people may experience allergic reactions (carpet beetle dermatitis) from contact with larval hairs.
