Western Conifer Seed Bug

Natural Habitat

Coniferous forests, urban and suburban areas, often found on structures during cooler seasons

Diet & Feeding

Behavior Patterns

During late summer and fall, adults often aggregate and seek shelter in protected places, including homes and other buildings, to overwinter. They produce a strong, unpleasant odor when disturbed. They are strong fliers.

Risks & Benefits

Potential risks include being a nuisance pest when they invade homes in large numbers, though they do not bite or sting. They can cause minor damage to conifer seeds or developing cones in commercial timber operations. Generally harmless to humans.
