Natural Habitat
Dwellings where humans sleep or rest, including mattresses, bed frames, cracks and crevices in furniture, and behind baseboards.
Diet & Feeding
Strictly hematophagous (blood-feeding), primarily on human blood, usually taken at night.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal, hiding in dark, secluded areas during the day. They go through five nymphal stages, requiring a blood meal to molt between each stage.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy skin rashes, psychological distress, and allergic reactions. While they are not known to transmit diseases, their presence causes significant nuisance and infestation issues. They offer no common benefits to the ecosystem.
