Bed Bug Cast Skins

Natural Habitat

Found in human dwellings, specifically in tight crevices of mattresses, box springs, bed frames, and upholstered furniture.

Diet & Feeding

Bed bugs feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans. These shells are the discarded outer skeletons as they grow after a meal.

Behavior Patterns

As bed bug nymphs grow, they must shed their exoskeleton (molt) five times before reaching adulthood. These translucent, yellowish shells are left behind near nesting and feeding areas.

Risks & Benefits

Presence indicates an active or past infestation. Risks include itchy bites, allergic reactions, and psychological distress. They offer no benefits to the ecosystem in a domestic setting.
