Natural Habitat
Indoors, primarily in warm, humid areas such as kitchens and bathrooms near food and water sources.
Diet & Feeding
Omnivorous scavenger; eats crumbs, grease, sugary substances, book bindings, and even soap or toothpaste.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and highly reproductive; nymphs undergo several molts before reaching adulthood. They are adept at hiding in narrow cracks and crevices during the day.
Risks & Benefits
Significant indoor pest; they can spread bacteria (like Salmonella), contaminate food, and their droppings and shed skins can trigger asthma and allergic reactions in humans.
