Natural Habitat
Found globally in human dwellings, typically hiding in cracks, crevices, mattress seams, and bed frames.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate blood feeders, primarily targeting humans but also other warm-blooded animals.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal parasites that emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and can survive for months without a blood meal.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy, red welts (bites), secondary skin infections from scratching, and psychological distress. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no ecological benefits in human environments.
