Natural Habitat
Primarily indoor pests, found in warm, humid environments close to food and water sources. Common in kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and commercial food establishments.
Diet & Feeding
Omnivorous scavengers, feeding on almost any organic matter, including food scraps, grease, soap, glue, and even other cockroaches. They prefer starches, sugars, and fatty foods.
Behavior Patterns
They are nocturnal and prefer to hide in dark, secluded areas during the day. When disturbed, they often scatter quickly. They reproduce rapidly, with females producing many egg cases (oothecae) over their lifespan.
Risks & Benefits
Risks: Can spread bacteria (E. coli, Salmonella), viruses, and parasitic worms. Their droppings and shed skins can trigger allergies and asthma in sensitive individuals. They can contaminate food and surfaces. No known benefits to humans.
