Carpet Beetle Larva
Scientific Name: Anthrenus (genus likely, species cannot be determined definitively from image)
Order & Family: Coleoptera, Dermestidae
Size: Typically 1.5 to 5 mm (0.06 to 0.2 inches) long.

Natural Habitat
Indoors, especially in undisturbed areas such as under carpets, in closets, behind baseboards, and in attics. They feed on natural fibers and detritus.
Diet & Feeding
Keratin-based materials (wool, silk, feathers, leather, fur), natural fibers, dried animal products, stored food products, pet hair, and lint. They are scavengers.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae are typically slow-moving and avoid light. They undergo several molts before pupating. The bristly appearance (hairs or setae) on their bodies is characteristic and can cause skin irritation in some individuals.
Risks & Benefits
Potential Risks: Can cause significant damage to household items made of natural fibers (carpets, clothing, upholstered furniture, museum specimens). Can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals due to the barbed hairs (setae) they shed. Potential Benefits: In natural environments, they serve as decomposers, helping to break down organic matter.
