Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding

Omnivorous scavengers. They eat almost anything including food scraps, crumbs, grease, glue, leather, and starches.

Behavior Patterns

Primarily nocturnal and highly social; they tend to congregate in hidden harborages. They reproduce very rapidly, with a single egg case containing 30-40 eggs.

Risks & Benefits

Significant indoor pest. They can spread bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella, contaminate food, and produce allergens that trigger asthma and allergic reactions in humans.
