Size: Typically 11-16 mm (0.43-0.63 in) long.

Natural Habitat

Primarily indoor pests, found in warm, humid environments close to food and water, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and within cracks and crevices.

Diet & Feeding

Omnivorous scavengers, feeding on almost anything, including food scraps, grease, pet food, toothpaste, soap, and even glue.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal, seeking food and water at night. They are very prolific and can infest an area rapidly. Females carry egg cases (oothecae) for a period before depositing them.

Risks & Benefits

Risks: Can contaminate food and surfaces with bacteria (e.g., Salmonella, E. coli), allergens, and protozoans. Can trigger allergies and asthma symptoms in sensitive individuals. Benefits: None known for human environments.
