Primarily lives on mammals like cats and dogs, but can be found in carpets, bedding, and furniture.

Diet & Feeding

Adults are hematophagous (blood-feeders); larvae feed on organic debris and dried blood (flea dirt).

Behavior Patterns

Wingless but capable of jumping long distances. They undergo complete metamorphosis from egg to adult.

Can cause skin irritation and allergic reactions in humans and pets; can transmit tapeworms and certain bacterial pathogens.
