Booklouse (or Psocid)
Scientific Name: Liposcelis spp. (Common genus for indoor booklice)

Size: Very small, typically 1 mm to 2 mm in length.

Natural Habitat
Found in warm, damp environments with high humidity; frequently seen on moldy paper, books, pantry shelves, wallpaper, or around windowsills.
Diet & Feeding
Feeds on microscopic mold, fungi, starch, glue (book bindings), wallpaper paste, and sometimes grains or cereals.
Behavior Patterns
They are flightless (most indoor species) and move in sporadic, jerky motions. They do not bite but reproduce rapidly in humid conditions.
Risks & Benefits
Harmless to humans and pets (they do not bite or spread disease). However, they can contaminate food and their presence is usually an indicator of high humidity and potential mold growth.
