Behavior Patterns

Mainly nocturnal; they are fast runners and tend to aggregate in tight crevices. High reproductive rate with females carrying an egg case (ootheca) until shortly before hatching.

Risks & Benefits

Significant indoor pest. They can spread bacteria (like Salmonella and E. coli), contaminate food, and produce allergens that trigger asthma or allergic reactions in humans.
