Mainly nocturnal; notable for its rapid reproduction and light-avoidance behavior. It is distinguished by two dark parallel stripes on its pronotum (the shield-like area behind the head).

Risks & Benefits

Significant indoor pest. Risks include the transmission of pathogens (Salmonella, E. coli), contamination of food, and triggers for asthma and allergies via their droppings and shed skins. No ecological benefits within human dwellings.
