Natural Habitat
Indoor environments, particularly in and around sleeping areas such as mattresses, bed frames, and floorboards.
Diet & Feeding
Strictly hematophagous, meaning they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal parasites that hide in cracks and crevices during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).
Risks & Benefits
They are significant structural pests that cause itchy welts, allergic reactions, and psychological distress. While they do not transmit diseases, they are difficult and expensive to eradicate.
