Behavior Patterns
Known for constructing large, intricate, circular webs (orb webs) to catch prey. Many species rebuild their webs daily, often at dawn or dusk. They are typically nocturnal, but some species are active during the day. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
Risks & Benefits
Generally considered beneficial as they control insect populations, including pests. Bites are rare and usually only occur if provoked. Their venom is typically not dangerous to humans, causing only mild local pain, swelling, and itchiness. They pose a very low risk to humans.
