Bed Bug

Natural Habitat

Human dwellings, primarily found in cracks and crevices near sleeping areas such as mattresses, bed frames, and baseboards.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophages, meaning they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans and occasionally pets.

Behavior Patterns

Mainly nocturnal; they emerge at night to feed and return to hiding spots. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymphal stages, and adult) and require a blood meal to progress to the next life stage.

Risks & Benefits

They do not transmit diseases but their bites can cause allergic reactions, skin rashes, and psychological distress. Economically, they are a major pest control burden with no known ecological benefits to human environments.
