Diet & Feeding

Omnivorous scavengers; they eat almost anything organic, including food scraps, grease, pet food, toothpaste, soap, and even wallpaper paste.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and highly secretive, rarely seen during the day. They are fast runners and reproduce quickly. Nymphs molt several times before reaching adulthood.

Risks & Benefits

Risks: Considered a significant household pest. They can contaminate food and surfaces with bacteria (e.g., E. coli, Salmonella), allergens, and can trigger asthma attacks in sensitive individuals. They can also carry pathogens for various diseases. No known benefits in a household context.
