Size: Larvae (case included) typically range from 5-15 mm (0.2-0.6 inches) in length. Adult moths are small, about 10-14 mm (0.4-0.55 inches) wingspan.

Natural Habitat
Commonly found indoors in humid areas such as bathrooms, damp closets, under furniture, and in areas where pet hair or lint accumulates. Can also be found outdoors in sheltered, damp locations.
Diet & Feeding
Primarily feeds on natural fibers like wool, silk, fur, and feathers; also synthetic fibers, pet hair, and human hair. Can also feed on dried plant material and cobwebs.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae construct a case from silk and debris (like lint, carpet fibers, and dust) which they carry with them as they move and feed. They pupate within this case and adult moths emerge.
Risks & Benefits
Potential risks include damage to clothing, carpets, upholstered furniture, and other household items made of natural fibers. Generally considered a household pest. No known direct benefits to humans or the ecosystem in a household setting.
