Natural Habitat
Found in bamboo, rattan, and sometimes wooden structures or stored dry food products.
Diet & Feeding
Primarily feeds on starch-rich bamboo and wood; also known to infest stored grains and dried roots.
Behavior Patterns
The larvae tunnel through material, leaving behind a fine powdery dust (frass). Adults are strong fliers and are attracted to light.
Risks & Benefits
Significant urban and agricultural pest. It can cause severe structural damage to bamboo furniture and wooden dwellings. Not harmful to humans directly.
