Diet & Feeding

Consumes matter containing polysaccharides, such as starches and dextrin in adhesives. Feeds on book bindings, paper, photos, sugar, hair, and dandruff.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal, fast-moving, and avoids light. They undergo hemimetabolous metamorphosis and can live for up to eight years.

Risks & Benefits

Harmless to humans as they do not bite or spread disease, but are considered pests due to the destruction of property like books and wallpaper.
