Primarily feeds on mold, fungi, and yeast; can also feed on high-protein or high-fat stored foods like cheese, seeds, and nuts.
Behavior Patterns
Rapid reproduction in high humidity; they often appear as a moving white dust when present in high concentrations. They have a short life cycle of approximately 2-3 weeks.
Risks & Benefits
Generally harmless to humans but can cause allergic reactions or 'grocer's itch' in sensitive individuals. They can contaminate stored food products but do not bite or sting.
