Natural Habitat
They are one of the most common insects found infesting stored food products in homes, pantries, grocery stores, food processing plants, granaries, and warehouses. They thrive in warm, humid environments.
Diet & Feeding
The sawtoothed grain beetle primarily feeds on a variety of dried foods, grains, cereals, pasta, nuts, chocolate, dried fruits, pet food, and other stored dry goods. They do not feed on whole, undamaged grains but prefer broken kernels or processed products.
Behavior Patterns
They are active during the day and are often found on or near their food sources. They can be found walking on surfaces but are also capable of flight. Larvae are typically found within stored products, feeding and developing until pupation.
Risks & Benefits
