Order & Family: Lepidoptera, Tineidae
Size: Larvae up to 1/2 inch (12 mm); adults 1/4 to 1/2 inch (6-12 mm) wingspan.

Natural Habitat
Indoors, especially in dark, undisturbed areas such as closets, attics, and storage containers, feeding on natural fibers.
Diet & Feeding
Larvae feed on natural fibers, including wool, silk, fur, feathers, felt, and sometimes blends containing synthetic fibers. They can also feed on lint, dust, and pet hair.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae construct a portable silken case that they carry and enlarge as they grow. They are slow-moving and prefer dark, undisturbed areas. Adults are poor fliers and tend to run rather than fly.
Risks & Benefits
Potential risks include significant damage to textiles, clothing, carpets, and upholstered furniture made from natural fibers. There are no direct benefits to humans, though they play a minor role in natural decomposition of animal products in outdoor settings.
