German Cockroach Nymph
Scientific Name: Blattella germanica (nymph)
Order & Family: Blattodea (Order), Ectobiidae (Family)
Size: Nymphs typically range from 1 to 13 mm (0.04 to 0.5 inches) as they grow through multiple instars before reaching adult size. The pictured nymph appears to be in an early to mid-instar stage, likely a few millimeters long.

Natural Habitat
German cockroaches are typically found indoors, preferring warm, humid environments close to food and water sources. Common habitats include kitchens, bathrooms, restaurants, food processing plants, and other areas with harborage, food, and moisture.
Diet & Feeding
German cockroaches are omnivores and scavengers. They will eat almost any organic matter, including food scraps, grease, starches, sugars, meats, and even non-food items like soap, glue, and toothpaste when food is scarce.
Behavior Patterns
Cockroaches are primarily nocturnal and gregarious. They can be found in cracks and crevices during the day. They are fast runners and can exhibit thigmotaxis, meaning they prefer to be in confined spaces where their bodies are touching surfaces.
Risks & Benefits
Potential risks include spreading pathogens (bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasitic worms) that can cause food poisoning, dysentery, allergies, and asthma. They can contaminate food and surfaces. They are not known to have significant benefits to humans in indoor environments.
