Natural Habitat
Warm, humid environments, especially kitchens and bathrooms in human dwellings; often found near food sources, under sinks, behind appliances, and in cracks and crevices.
Diet & Feeding
Omnivorous scavengers. They will eat almost any organic matter, including food scraps, grease, starches, sweets, pet food, and even non-food items like glue and soap.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal; they hide during the day and emerge at night to forage for food and water. They are known for rapid reproduction and can quickly infest an area. Nymphs often appear darker and lack fully developed wings.
Risks & Benefits
Potential risks include spreading pathogens (bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites) by contaminating food and surfaces, triggering allergies and asthma, and causing economic damage by contaminating food products. No direct benefits to humans, considered a pest.
