Bird's nest fungi (Nidulariaceae)
Scientific Name: Nidulariaceae (Family name)
Order & Family: Order: Agaricales, Family: Nidulariaceae
Size: Individual fruiting bodies are small, usually 5 to 15 mm in height and 4 to 8 mm in width.

Natural Habitat
Typically found on decaying wood, bark mulch, or soil rich in organic matter.
Diet & Feeding
Saprotrophic; they derive nutrients by decomposing organic matter such as wood chips and plant debris.
Behavior Patterns
They produce small, egg-like structures called peridioles that contain spores. When raindrops hit the 'nest,' the eggs are splashed out to disperse spores to new locations.
Risks & Benefits
Generally non-toxic, but not considered edible due to their small size and tough texture. They are beneficial decomposers that help recycle nutrients back into the soil.
