Damp, dark, and poorly ventilated environments in homes, especially bathrooms, basements, and around leaky pipes. Can grow on almost any organic surface.

Diet & Feeding

Organic matter (cellulose, wood, fabric, food, etc.)

Some molds produce mycotoxins which can be hazardous. Can cause structural damage to buildings and decay materials. Potential benefits: Some molds are used in food production (e.g., cheese), antibiotic production (e.g., penicillin), and decomposition processes in nature.
