Natural Habitat
Found worldwide, often in and around human homes in dark, undisturbed areas like basements, closets, behind furniture, and in cellars.
Diet & Feeding
Carnivorous, feeding on other small arthropods including insects (like silverfish and small flies) and other spiders. It captures prey by spitting a venomous, silk-like, sticky fluid from a distance.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and slow-moving hunter. It is known for its unique hunting method of spitting a zigzag pattern of sticky fluid to trap its prey. They are solitary and typically non-aggressive.
Risks & Benefits
Beneficial to humans as it provides natural pest control by preying on nuisance insects and other spiders. They are not considered dangerous to people; bites are extremely rare and medically insignificant due to their reclusive nature and small fangs.
