Obligate hematophage; feeds exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal; they emerge from hiding at night to feed and are attracted to heat and carbon dioxide. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy allergic reactions to bites, sleep deprivation, and psychological distress; they are not known vectors of disease. No known ecological benefits in domestic settings.
