Grass Spider
Scientific Name: Agelenopsis spp.
Order & Family: Araneae, Agelenidae
Size: Females typically 10-20 mm, males 9-16 mm (excluding leg span).

Natural Habitat
Commonly found in grassy areas, gardens, fields, and sometimes in houses; they build funnel-shaped webs near the ground, often on dense vegetation, rocks, or logs.
Diet & Feeding
Mainly insects and other small invertebrates that get caught in their web.
Behavior Patterns
Grass spiders are funnel-web weavers. They build a flat, sheet-like web with a funnel retreat to one side. They are very fast runners and wait at the mouth of the funnel for prey to land on the web, then rush out to capture it. They are not known to be aggressive towards humans.
Risks & Benefits
Generally considered harmless to humans; their bite is rare and typically causes only mild, localized pain, if any. They are beneficial as they prey on various insects, helping to control pest populations in gardens and yards.
