Mold Mite

Natural Habitat

Found in environments with high humidity and mold growth, such as kitchens, bathrooms, damp storage areas, and on high-protein or high-fat food sources.

Diet & Feeding

Feeds primarily on fungi, mold spores, and organic matter rich in fat and protein like cheese, grains, and nuts.

Behavior Patterns

They reproduce rapidly in warm, moist conditions. Because they are so small, they often appear as moving fine white dust (sometimes called 'crawling dust'). They do not fly or jump.

Risks & Benefits

They do not bite humans or pets, but their presence can cause skin irritation or respiratory allergies in sensitive individuals. They can also contaminate food supplies, leading to spoilage.
