Ghost Spider

Natural Habitat

Found in a variety of habitats, including forests, grasslands, gardens, and often indoors in homes and buildings. They are typically found on vegetation, under bark, or crawling on surfaces.

Diet & Feeding

Predatory. They actively hunt small insects and other arthropods. Unlike many spiders, they do not build webs to catch prey.

Behavior Patterns

Ghost spiders are nocturnal hunters, meaning they are most active at night. During the day, they often hide in silken retreats under leaves, bark, or in crevices. They are known for their fast movement and can be quite skittish. Females produce an egg sac that they guard.

Risks & Benefits

Benefits: They act as natural pest control, preying on various small insects around homes and gardens. Risks: They are generally harmless to humans. While they can bite, their venom is not considered medically significant and bites are rare, usually only occurring if provoked or accidentally pressed against skin. They are not aggressive.
