Natural Habitat
Booklice thrive in warm, humid, and dark environments. They are commonly found indoors in homes, libraries, and warehouses, especially in areas with high humidity or dampness, like bathrooms, basements, and kitchens.
Diet & Feeding
Booklice feed on mold, fungi, dead insects, and starchy materials such as book bindings, stored grains, wallpaper paste, and other organic matter.
Behavior Patterns
Psocids are often found in damp, dark, and undisturbed areas. They are usually active at night and move quickly when disturbed. They are often found in large numbers and can infest stored food products.
Risks & Benefits
Booklice are generally harmless to humans and do not bite or transmit diseases. However, they can be a nuisance pest, especially when present in large numbers, and can damage books, stored food, and other household items by feeding on mold and other organic matter. They are not known to provide any significant benefits.
