Natural Habitat

Forests, woodlands, orchards, and vineyards, particularly where grapevines or other host plants are present.

Diet & Feeding

Adults primarily feed on the foliage of grapevines and Virginia Creeper. Larvae feed on decaying wood and roots.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal; adults are attracted to lights at night and are most active during the summer months. Larvae develop in decaying wood underground for up to two years.

Risks & Benefits

Considered a minor pest of grapevines, as their feeding can defoliate plants if infestations are heavy. Generally not a significant threat to established vineyards. No risks to humans.
