Natural Habitat

Typically found in Australia, parts of Asia, Africa, and the Americas. They prefer warm climates. They are often found under loose bark on trees, in rock crevices, under logs, and sometimes in houses or sheds.

Diet & Feeding

Mainly insects and other invertebrates (e.g., cockroaches, crickets, moths). Larger species may occasionally eat small reptiles or amphibians.

Behavior Patterns

Hunts at night. Does not build a web for catching prey, but rather stalks and pounces on its victims. Known for its speed and agility. Males will search for females for mating. Female will lay eggs in a silk sac and guard them.

Risks & Benefits

Risks: Bites can be painful, causing localized swelling, pain, and sometimes nausea, headache, and palpitations, but are generally not considered dangerous to humans. Benefits: They are natural pest controllers, preying on various insects commonly considered pests.
