Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, specifically near human sleeping areas such as mattresses, box springs, bed frames, and headboards.

Diet & Feeding

Exclusively hematophagous (blood-feeding), primarily consuming human blood but will feed on other warm-blooded animals if necessary.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal parasites that hide in cracks and crevices during the day. They are attracted to heat and carbon dioxide produced by hosts. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).

Risks & Benefits

They do not transmit diseases but their bites can cause itchy welts, allergic reactions, and significant psychological distress or insomnia. They offer no ecosystem benefits in human habitats.
