Natural Habitat

Typically found in warm, moist habitats; commonly found on indoor houseplants, in greenhouses, and on many agricultural crops.

Diet & Feeding

Herbivorous; they pierce plant tissues and suck out the nutrient-rich sap (phloem), weakening the host plant.

Behavior Patterns

Slow-moving; they secrete a powdery white wax as a protective layer. They exhibit sexual dimorphism, with winged males and wingless females. They often congregate in crevices or under leaves.

Risks & Benefits

Major agricultural and horticultural pests that can cause yellowing, leaf drop, and plant death. They secrete 'honeydew' which leads to sooty mold growth. No significant benefits to humans.
