Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Mostly scavengers, feeding on decaying plant material, mold, mildew, fungi, and bacteria.
Behavior Patterns
They are named for a fork-like appendage (furcula) used to spring high into the air when disturbed. They are attracted to high humidity and moisture levels.
Risks & Benefits
They do not bite or sting and are harmless to humans, pets, and structures. They can be a nuisance indoors but are beneficial to the ecosystem as decomposers that help cycle nutrients into the soil.
