Tapeworm Segment (Proglottid)

Size: Segments are typically 3-5mm long (resembling a grain of rice or sesame seed)

Natural Habitat
Internal parasite found in the intestines of dogs, cats, and sometimes humans. Outside the host, they are often found on bedding, near the animal's anus, or in feces.
Diet & Feeding
Absorbs nutrients directly from the host's intestinal contents
Behavior Patterns
Once shed in feces, the proglottids dry out and look like sesame seeds. They release egg packets which are then eaten by flea larvae (the intermediate host) to restart the cycle.
Risks & Benefits
Risk: Parasitic infection causing weight loss, digestive issues, and anal itching (scooting) in pets. Can infect humans (especially children) if a flea is accidentally ingested. Benefit: None.
